Summary

Zambia, Africa

Wider than Niagara and taller than Iguazu, the Victoria Falls have all the drama and impact of their much-visited counterparts– but considerably less crowds. The best place to see them from is Zambia, where safety, a jetlag free time zone and one of the continent’s warmest welcomes combine to make the perfect place to bring the kids. We’ve designed this trip especially for families, adding helicopter and elephant rides and a visits to a local village to give them an introduction to Africa that they’ll never forget. Plus some chill out time at the end so you return fully refreshed.

What makes this experience awesome:

  • Private holiday with personal guides and private transport included
  • Cruise the Zambezi at sunset as you watch animals on its banks
  • Take an elephant-back trip through the wilderness
  • Helicopter over Victoria Falls on a heart-in-mouth adventure
  • Spend the day in a local village with the indigenous Leya people
  • Get the best views of the Falls on an adventure with your private guide

Itinerary

Zambia

Day One: Straight to Lodge

Welcome to Zambia. It’s an easy transfer to your lodge for the night – around 20 minutes by private car. Depending on your category of accommodation, you’ll spend the next seven nights at:

CLASSIC: Victoria Falls Waterfront Lodge, set in jungly gardens that are just waiting to be explored. Accommodation is in thatched cottages which have the feel of treehouses, and there are two pools and a restaurant with lovely views over the river. The lodge comes with spacious family rooms that can accommodate four people and have generous balconies overlooking the gardens.

PREMIUM: Avani Victoria Falls Hotel, which we’ve chosen because of its family-friendly credentials and its location just five minutes’ walk from Victoria Falls. Colourful rooms come with African textiles and there are five dining options - including sundown dinners in a private bird hide. Avani’s family rooms come with extra space and two double beds, and staying here gives you access to the falls throughout your stay.

Enjoy a relaxed first evening at your choice of resort, settling in to the easy pace of Zambian life.

Afterwards, it’s time to visit the majestic Victoria Falls with a private guide. Named as one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World and called ‘The Smoke That Thunders’ in the local language, Victoria Falls is the largest waterfall in the world and a sight of epic proportions.
