Day Two: Marvellous Masks
Start with a private tour uncovering Casanova’s Venice and the sensuality of the city and have lunch at leisure. An emblem of Carnevale, masks have been worn in Venice since antiquity (when they were a cunning way of disguising the wearer while they partook in hedonistic activities!). Make sure you’re properly attired with a morning trip to one of the city’s mask ateliers, a fascinating traditional shop where you be able to take part in a workshop to decorate your own mask, ready for the celebrations later.

Day Three: Ready to Party
Prepare for the evening’s celebration with a day exploring all carnival festivities on your own. Then break for lunch before heading to one of the city’s ateliers to source a costume for hire. Try on several before deciding on the one you want to rent for the big night – it will be delivered to your hotel in plenty of time for the party. At 6.30pm, it’s time for an experience of a lifetime, the “La Nuit Enchantée” ball at Palazzo Contarini, 10 mins walk from the Piazza San Marco. Venetian costume and mask is essential for attendees at this night of dinner and dancing, where the theme for 2020 is ‘The Magic of Love’. Enjoy dinner and a welcome cocktail, before an open bar and entertainment from international artists.
