Summary

Turkey

The stretch of western Turkey between Marmaris and Fethiye has it all: ancient treasures, incredible beaches and knock-out attractions. On this experience, we’ve ensured you see the big hitters – from Ephesus to Pamukkale – and added some unforgettable extras, including a paraglide over the dramatic coastline and dinner in the atmospheric ghost town of Karakoy.

What makes this experience awesome:

  • Private holiday with personal guides and private transport included
  • Paraglide over the lagoon and beaches of beautiful Olu Deniz
  • Eat supper in the atmospheric ghost town of Karakoy
  • Explore the tranquil waters of Patara National Park by canoe
  • Bathe in Cleopatra’s favourite ancient pool
  • Tour the famous ancient city of Ephesus
  • Look out for loggerhead turtles as you cruise Dalyan River

Touch down in Turkey and spend your first three nights with the pretty seaside town of Fethiye as your base. From here, you’ll paraglide high above the beautiful coastline, have dinner in a long-abandoned ghost town, then spend a full day kayaking in Patara National Park, home to Turkey’s longest beach. Feeling relaxed and rejuvenated, it’s time to hit the road: first you’ll visit the delicate limestone terraces of Pamukkale and the neighbouring ancient town of Hierapolis, staying nearby overnight. Next, you’ll tour the incredible UNESCO site of Ephesus with your private guide, before spending your final day cruising the peaceful Dalyan River on the lookout for loggerhead turtles.

Soar high above the town’s lagoon, forested hills and perfect white beaches for the ultimate, hour-long intro to the area. Afterwards, you’ll have time to explore the stunning local beaches and fantastic restaurants before being driven to the atmospheric ghost town of Kayakoy, deserted after the First World War because of the Greek Turkish population exchange. Learn about its fascinating history, then have dinner in one of a handful of houses that have been evocatively restored at the edge of the village.

Leaving Pamukkale, you’ll drive to Ephesus and have lunch at a local restaurant in Selçuk, before spending the afternoon exploring the site with your private guide. Wander its well-preserved marble-lined streets, visiting Hadrian’s Temple, the amphitheatre and the House of the Virgin Mary, before continuing onwards to the lively resort town of Kusadasi for the night.

You’ll break for a lunch of fresh fish on the riverbank, then you have the choice of visiting the nearby mud baths for an anti-aging soak, or relaxing on the long strip of sand at Iztuzu Beach.
