Day One: Hello Norway!

Touch down in Oslo, and you’ll be whisked to your hotel, to check-in and get set for the next few days of adventure.

Day1

Overnight in Oslo

We offer a variety of hotel classes to suit different budgets. You can choose the style that’s right for you.

Select from Classic, Premium or Deluxe when booking, and click hotel name below for more details.

Meals included: None

Day Two: Time to explore

Head out with private vehicle and guide to discover Norway’s fascinating capital, Oslo. You’ll take in its many highlights, including the fascinating Viking Ship Museum – filled with well-preserved remnants of this famous period of history. Continuing through the city, you’ll see landmarks such as the Lion statues at the entrance to Parliament and the Royal Palace, before heading to the Vigeland sculpture park, packed with more than 200 iron and bronze statues. Your afternoon is then free to do as much or as little as you like – perhaps sampling Norway’s excellent coffee in its world-renowned coffee shops or following the fairytale waterfalls of the Akerselva river.

Day2

Overnight in Oslo

Meals included: Breakfast

Day Three: Flam Railway

Pack an overnight bag and get set to leave the city: while your luggage is collected and taken to Bergen (ready for collection on Day Four), you’ll travel to the railway station in order to board the train to Myrdal, taking in some of Norway’s most beautiful mountain scenery along the way.    At Myrdal, it’s time to change onto the famous Flam railway, known as one of the steepest tracks in the world. Over the course of an hour, you’ll follow the track beside an icy river, passing waterfalls and wooded mountains and taking in incredible views of the valley on your journey to Flam. Upon arrival in Flam, check in and enjoy dinner at your hotel.

Day3

Overnight in Flam

Meals included: Breakfast, Dinner

Day Four: Flam and Beyond

Time for a boat trip: take a cruise along UNESCO-listed Naeroyfjord to the ancient village of Gudvangen, 1,700m above sea level and surrounded by mountains. Along the way you’ll admire views over one of the most beautiful fjords in the world, spotting little farms that hugs the mountains, as well as grazing goats and seals basking along the shoreline.  Spend some time soaking up the scenery before taking the train onwards to Bergen, via Voss.

Day4

Overnight in Bergen

Meals included: Breakfast

Day Five: Bergen Highlights

It’s time to tackle Bergen, on a morning’s walking tour around this historic city with your private guide. You’ll take in the historic Hanseatic wharf, fish market, cathedral and rainbow-painted houses. Then you’ll head high above the streets by funicular, to see the breathtaking views over the city from Mount Floyen. Your afternoon is free to take in the rest of Bergen – perhaps you’ll explore the museum-packed district around Kode or wander the pavements spotting Bergen’s profusion of street art.

Day5

Overnight in Bergen

Meals included: Breakfast

Day Six: To the North!

Prepare to tackle more of Norway’s natural wonders, as you fly to Tromso, gateway to the Arctic Circle. Once you arrive, settle in to this sleepy city where winter brings magical midday twilight.

Day6

Overnight in Tromso

Meals included: Breakfast

Day Seven: Dogsleds and Snowmobiles

Today involves two exciting activities at the heart of the landscape. After breakfast, head out with your private guide on a dog sledding ride (two people per sled). Led by the region’s leading provider, you’ll soak up views of the surrounding mountains on an hour-long exploration, as well as meeting the company’s crew of more than 300 dogs and their puppies. Enjoy a hearty traditional meal of reindeer meat, broth and vegetables afterwards to warm yourselves up (vegetarian options are available), before returning to your hotel to relax and gear up for your second excursion of the day: snowmobiling in search of the Northern lights. You’ll be given warm layers and shoes for this adventure, driving 30km through the wilderness (drivers must be aged 18 or over with a drivers license). Over the course of two hours, you’ll zip through the landscape, admire the view over an ice-covered lake, and perhaps even try ice fishing (if weather conditions permit). Finish up with a memorable supper prepared in a traditional Sami tent.

Day7

Overnight in Tromso

Meals included: Breakfast, lunch, dinner

Day Eight: Evening Excursion!

Take some time to relax after yesterday’s hectic activities: today is free until the evening. The city of Tromso is great for independent exploration, with a cable car, polar museum and striking mid-century architecture (including the aquarium Polaria and Arctic Cathedral). Head back to the hotel by nightfall, in time to embark on an evening search for the Aurora Borealis with an experienced guide. We’ve chosen our minibus tour to seek out the incredible natural phenomena because the guides have decades of experience and knowledge of weather conditions and wind speed, making them ideally best placed to find the Lights. They’ll also provide snacks and hot drinks in the warm van to ensure you stay comfortable throughout. Don’t forget your camera: your guide can help you get the best images of your unforgettable night.

Day8

Overnight in Tromso

Meals included: Breakfast, evening snacks

Day Nine: Homebound!
