Summary

India

Escape to the tranquil surroundings of Om beach on this invigorating wellness experience, with five days to relax and find focus at the wonderful SwaSwara retreat located on the south of the Goa-Karnatak border. Decompress with daily yoga sessions, ayurvedic treatments and guided meditation, amongst 30 acres of lush jungle and rainwater lakes.

What makes this experience awesome:

  • Private holiday with personal guides and private transport included
  • Soothe yourself with a personalised programme of yoga, meditation and ayurveda
  • Watch an unbeatable sun rise over Om beach from the hilltop meditation pavilion
  • Hike across pristine sand and through verdant jungle and search out empty, secluded beaches
  • Explore the tiny temple town of Gokarna, where sacred cows wander across unpaved streets shaded by coconut palms
  • Suitable for Solo Travellers

High above the dramatic sweep of Om Beach, SwaSwara is a unique and very special retreat. Designed in complete harmony with nature, this is one of our favourite places to truly get away from it all. Hide away in a private villa with its own courtyard garden, yoga deck and a bathroom partially open to the sky. The resort’s gardens are packed with medicinal herbs and organic fruit and vegetables, and the locally-inspired pescetarian cuisine is fresh and healthy.

At the beginning of your stay you’ll have a detailed consultation with a yoga instructor and an ayurvedic or naturopathic doctor, who'll help create a personalised programme of treatments and activities. Mix this with cooking masterclasses on delicious South Indian cuisine, series of excellent free spa treatments and painting or pottery classes and you'll enjoy the ultimate relaxing break. Optional extras include boat trips, private yoga sessions and a weekly birdwatching walk. And for a truly memorable end to your trip, why not extend your time in Goa with a stay at the stunning Alila Diwa resort.

Day One: Welcome to Paradise

Upon arrival at Goa International Airport, you’ll be greeted and driven to Swaswara (3.5 hours) located on the south of the Goa-Karnataka border. Once there, check-in and savour the incredible surroundings – 30 acres of jungly rainforest and rainwater lakes. You’ll be briefed on your stay and shown to your home for the next few days; a private villa with courtyard garden, yoga deck and bathroom that’s partially open to the stunning south Indian sky. You will also have a detailed consultation with one of the resort’s fully-qualified yoga instructors.

Overnight at Swaswara, Gokarna

Meals included: Lunch; dinner

Days Two-Five: Health and Happiness

Over the course of the new few days, you’ll settle into a series of treatments, classes and experiences geared to your wellbeing. The resort puts on daily sessions of yoga, pranayama (control of the breath), yoga nidra (guided sleep meditation), laughter yoga and guided meditation, and your instructor will recommend the classes and levels for you (don’t miss the chance to savour a sunrise meditation overlooking Om Beach from the resort’s open-air hilltop pavilion). After a consultation with the onsite ayurvedic or naturopathy doctor, you will also be prescribed a series of treatments, including therapeutic massages, reflexology and salt scrubs.* In addition, you can choose from a varied programme of events and activities: every day, the resort’s chefs provide interactive cookery classes which teach guests how to recreate delicious and healthy local dishes. You can also set off through the dense forest on morning or evening guided walks, savouring the sound of bird song and the smell of blossom and salt from the nearby ocean. Swaswara has its own art studio, where resident artists will guide you as you make pottery, paint on handmade paper or take part in daily art meditations. You’ll have plenty of time to relax by a pool shaded by blossoms or in the resort’s lush gardens. At meal times, you’ll eat a pescetarian take on the delicious local cuisine, made with organic fruit and vegetables from the gardens and nearby farms, and fish straight from the sea.
