Day One: On the treetops

Welcome to Lapland! Once you arrive at Lulea Airport, your private guide will whisk you away straight to the Treehotel, ready for a night in its fairytale Cabin room: suspended high above the forest floor with bird’s eye views, this treehouse is designed for total immersion in nature. After check-in, it’s time for a flavour tour with Eva Gunnare, a food connoisseur and specialist in local wild herbs and berries. Eva has lived with the reindeer herders for many years and knows a huge amount about local customs and life close to nature. Discover nature’s flavours on a walk through the magical pine and birch forest surrounding the hotel, before ending the tour in the cosy hotel restaurant, where Eva will serve up tasty snacks made from her foraged treasures.

Nose Around the Tree Houses

Find out more about the hotel, from conception to reality, on this one-hour walk through the forest. You’ll get to peek in all six tree rooms too.

Lose yourself in the Forest

Savour the absolute peace of the pine forest which surrounds the hotel on this three-hour walk. Pick wild berries and absorb the silence as you traverse the landscape towards a still pond. Here, your guide will prepare coffee and tea over an open fire so that you can spend time enjoying a meditative moment as you watch the sky’s reflections in the calm water.

Snap the Landscapes of Taiga

With a professional adventure photographer as your guide, you’ll set off on a three-hour trip through the coniferous forest to take perfect pictures. The cameras provided are equipped with telephoto zooms and memory cards to ensure you capture excellent souvenir photos of the local animals, birds and photogenic landscape.

Horse ride through the Wilderness

Saddle up for an unbeatably peaceful two or three hour ride on the hotel’s calm horses. Along the way, you’ll stop for picnic fika with the beauty of the forest all around. Alternatively, the hotel also offers a trip of a similar length with a packed lunch included.

Take a horse ride in the midnight sun

Trips don’t come more surreally special than this three-hour ride into the middle of Lapland’s bright summer night. Explore the wilderness in complete peace, making regular stops to rest and snack.

Take a day hike in Korgen Nature Reserve

The fairytale landscape of this must-see reserve comes scattered with lichen-filled trees, dotted with lakes and hemmed by steep cliffs. Explore it on this memorable hike up and down its forested hills and spot reindeer, moose and birds with the help of your private guide. You’ll lunch at a viewpoint high above the landscape, with vistas stretching over the empty wilderness.

Discover the river rapids of Storforsen Nature Reserve

Take a reindeer-spotting drive along a gravel forest path towards Northern Europe’s largest rapid at Storforsen. Once there, transfer to a 2 km wooden walkway that takes you upstream and as close as possible to the rushing rapids where you can marvel at the incredible force of the water. Explore at your own pace, then let your guide cook a warming outdoor meal for you on a traditional murrikka pan over a roaring fire.

Spot Bears by the Midnight Sun

Local folk tales suggest bears awaken and leave their caves in April, around Tiburtius Day. On this overnight adventure, you’ll head out into the countryside to spot bears, raccoon dogs, foxes, martens & golden eagles from a hide equipped with six beds and an indoor bathroom. Each participant has their own photo aperture and window from which to observe these fascinating animals, along with a table and height-adjustable chair to ensure your comfort. Dinner, snacks and breakfast included.

Explore Harads in a local home

Wander the tiny local village of Harads – population 600. Here, your local guide will tell you about the region’s history and culture, and invite you into a home to share Swedish fika (coffee and pastries).

Become a Pizza Chef

The hotel staff will help you get acquainted with the onsite stone oven – then it’s all yours for the evening as you whip up some delicious pizzas.

Dine in a Tree

Prepare for a magical experience as you dine on a three-course meal packed with forest flavours, at a table ten metres up a tree. Here, you'll be so high that even the mosquitoes can’t reach you as you enjoy a once-in-a-lifetime romantic meal surrounded by branches and absolute silence.

Go summer night fishing

Head out by white evening light to fish the sleepy Lule River with a spinning rod. Packed with everything from trout to perch (including roach, whitefish and pike), it’s the perfect body of water from which to reel something in – and an exceptionally tranquil spot to spend the evening. Snack on coffee and cake from the hotel and return before midnight.

Kayak the Lule River

After a comprehensive safety briefing, it’s time to paddle along the historic Lule River with an experienced guide. Pass silent forest and riverside homes, and break for a delicious lunch of local game cooked by your guide over an open fire on the river bank. Later, you’ll return to the hotel by kayaking along the water.

Meet the Sami in the Arctic Circle

On this day-long adventure, you’ll visit the village of Flakaberg, around 80 km from Harads. Here, Lars Eriksson and his family will show you the authentic Sami culture and way of life on a visit to his reindeer pasture.
