Days Two and Three: The best of the fest
You’ll be able to enjoy most of the festivities surrounding San Fermin – including daily firework displays, traditional Basque sports competitions (wood-cutting and hay bale lifting), and parades of the ‘giants and big heads’, huge costumes representing both historical local figures and those from further afield. Bull-running is also an integral part of the festivities, and takes place every day from 8am (see our awesome way to take it in below). There’s also ‘El Struendo’ (the roar), an unprogrammed event during which people throng the Town Hall to make as much noise as possible using whatever they can get their hands on (whistles, wooden spoons, drums etc).

Our trips to the festivities include a VIP balcony experience from which to view the bull run: Your private guide will pick you up from your hotel just before seven am and take you to the first or second floor of a private apartment with a fantastic view of the proceedings. At 8am, the start of the ceremony is signalled with the launch of a rocket – and you’ll have one of the best views over the heart-pounding race. Enjoy coffee and pastries during the spectacle; your guide will be on hand to analyse the race and give plenty of historical background.

As an optional extra, we can also arrange a four-hour visit to the rest of the San Fermin festivities, which starts at 10am after the bull-running. On this custom tour, your private guide can show you the best places to enjoy the celebrations, as well as Pamplona’s hidden gems, and the most atmospheric bars and restaurants from which to soak up the atmosphere.
