Day One: On the treetops

Welcome to Lapland! Your private guide will whisk you straight from the airport to the Treehotel, ready for a night in its incredible Mirrorcube room: blending into the branches thanks to its mirrored walls and with a trunk running through it, this treehouse will take you straight into nature. After check-in, it’s time for a flavour tour with Eva Gunnare, a food connoisseur and specialist in local wild herbs and berries. Eva has lived with the reindeer herders for many years and knows a huge amount about local customs and life close to nature. Walk through the magical pine and birch forest surrounding the hotel discovering nature’s flavours, before ending the tour in the cosy restaurant where Eva will serve up tasty snacks made from her foraged treasures.

Half way through your adventure, you’ll stop for an outdoor lunch sitting on reindeer skins around a roaring fire. After your day outside, it’s time to relax come evening, with a two-hour trip to the Tree Sauna. Let tension melt away in the Steam Bath and Jacuzzi.

Journey by Dogsled

Head out by dog sled through the pristine forest and over the frozen river on this two-hour experience. After your guide has equipped you with warm clothes and given a safety briefing, it’s off to explore the landscape with your own personal dog team. Stop half-way through the adventure for a warming drink in incredible surroundings.

More Snowmobiling!

Loved your day on the snowmobile? The hotel can arrange a shorter, 2.5 hour safari into the landscape with warm drinks and chocolate. Swap turns at driving with your partner half-way through, or have your own snowmobile for a supplement.

See Northern Lights by Snowmobile

Take your snowmobile adventure to the next level, on an evening hunt for the Northern Lights far from the nearest light pollution. If you’re very lucky, you’ll see the elusive Aurora Borealis, but this is an incredible night adventure either way. Share your snowmobile with a partner, or have your own for a supplement.

Photograph the Northern Lights

Camera at the ready! If you want to get the perfect souvenir of your holiday, how about a photography safari to see the Aurora Borealis? Head deep into the forest at Bodträskän to optimise your chances of spotting the light show. Your professional adventure photographer guide will help you set up a tripod and DSLR camera, then give step by step instructions to how best to capture both the phenomenon and the surroundings. Homemade muffins and hot drinks included.

Walk with Snowshoes

Experience the thrill of walking on metre-deep virgin snow on this experience: Your guide will help your master snowshoeing techniques as you glide through the silent wilderness. Hunt for animal tracks and try to spot elk, reindeer and forest birds along the way, and snack on Swedish fika (snacks) and hot drinks.

Meet the Sami in the Arctic Circle

On this day-long adventure, you’ll visit the village of Flakaberg, around 80km from Harads. Here, Lars Eriksson and his family will show you the authentic Sami way of life and talk about their culture on a visit to their reindeer pasture. You’ll also head to the family’s cabin for a traditional Sami lunch with these wonderfully welcoming people.
