Day One : Florence – birthplace of Da Vinci
Upon arrival in Florence, you’ll be whisked off on an exclusive private tour to uncover Leonardo’s inspiration and works. Starting at the Pitti Palace (once home to Lorenzo de Medici, who was Da Vinci’s patron for seven years), you’ll visit its Galleria Palatina and Museo degli Argenti, discovering traces of his work and getting a feel for life in 15th-century Florence. Afterwards, you’ll visit the Museo Stibbert (where works by Da Vinci dot a fascinating collection of paintings, ceramics, costumes and armour), and the Palazzo della Signoria, to try to uncover the mystery of his lost fresco, the Battle of Anghiari. Then wander the streets of Florence, between works by the artists who inspired Da Vinci’s Last Supper: Andrea del Castagno, Perugino and Domenico Ghirlandaio.

Let our private driver whisk you to the little Tuscan village of Vinci, where Leonardo was born in 1452. This stunning hilltop dollop has far-reaching views over the olive groves and rolling hills of the surrounding countryside. Spend the day here with your private guide, viewing Da Vinci’s machines, models and drawings at the Museo Leonardiano and his lovingly restored former home. Later, you’ll transfer to the sleepy village of Cerreto Guidi, to soak up the typically Tuscan atmosphere and pay a visit to Villa Medicea, a former Medici hunting lodge that was also the scene of a mysterious Medici murder.
