Crack the Da Vinci Code

2019 brought a big celebration in Italy, as the country marked the 500 year anniversary of the death of Leonardo da Vinci. It spawned new museums and restaurants in Tuscany (his birthplace), and also reignited our interest in the ultimate Renaissance Man. Combining Florence’s significant attractions (including the Uffizi and Boboli Gardens) with the artist’s birth town of Vinci, we’ve come up with a fun and fascinating short break on the Da Vinci trail.

To avoid Stendhal Syndrome (as documented in E.M Forster’s A Room With A View), we’ve devoted time to discovering Da Vinci’s other passions and the region’s considerable assets as a foil to Florence’s high art and culture: you’ll wander sleepy Tuscan villages, taste Chianti in an enchanting castle and stop off at Medici hunting lodges, as well as visiting Da Vinci’s former home, set in a stunning hilltop village.

Aside from Leonardo’s incredible talents, you’ll also head to Villa Medici to learn some fascinating Tuscan facts about the Medicis, who were his patrons for many years. Eat, drink and be wowed by some fabulous art and architecture – it doesn’t get better than that!
